Iraq Proposes Hosting Iran-Arab States Meeting in New York
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and al-Sharq, Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday that Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein proposed holding a joint meeting between the Arab Gulf States, Iraq, and Iran on the sidelines of the united Nations General Assembly sessions. The goal is to strengthen regional dialog and coordination.
The meeting between the Iraqi and Iranian foreign ministers took place alongside yesterday’s summit of Arab and Islamic foreign ministers. It aimed to lay groundwork for today’s unusual summit in Qatar.
The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement added that both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between Tehran and Baghdad as well as recent regional and global developments.
The two foreign ministers also emphasized the importance of Syria’s territorial integrity amid Israeli regime aggressions.
