Egyptian Parties and Dozens of Figures Rise Against Camp David Accords
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Quds Al-Arabi, five Egyptian parties and dozens of prominent figures issued a statement on the 47th anniversary of the signing of the Camp David Accords with Israel, calling on Egyptian officials to annul the treaty.
The statement was signed by Egypt’s Socialist Party,Popular Socialist Coalition,Al-Karama Party,Life and Freedom Party, and Revolutionary Socialists Movement.
The signatories declared that “the policy of genocide and starving the people of Gaza alongside enemy warplanes roaring over Arab capitals is a direct result of the Camp David accords,” which ignored establishing a palestinian state and undermined Arab unity in addressing conflict with Tel Aviv.
The statement urged Egyptian politicians to respond firmly to explicit Zionist plans for relocating palestinians to Egypt’s Sinai Desert as well as their open support for creating a “Greater Israel” encompassing parts of Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Saudi Arabia.
It outlined six demands from Egyptian authorities: annulment of the Camp David treaty; cessation of all normalization efforts with Israel-especially commercial and tourism normalization; joining South Africa’s complaint against Israel at the International Criminal Court; releasing Palestinian prisoners held in Egyptian jails; allowing journalists and doctors passage through rafah Crossing at their own risk to assist Gaza residents; and permitting solidarity flotillas from Egypt aimed at breaking Gaza’s blockade.
