Doha Summit Opens; Emir of Qatar Calls Attack on Capital Cowardly
The emergency summit of Arab and Islamic leaders in Doha began with a speech by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, according too the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera.
Sheikh tamim said that their capital faced a treacherous attack targeting a residence housing families of Hamas leaders and its negotiating delegation.
He added: “Our citizens were shocked, and the whole world was stunned by this cowardly aggression and terrorist act. The Israeli war against Gaza has become a war aimed at destruction and genocide.”
The Emir noted that Doha has hosted delegations from both Hamas and Israel, with Qatar mediating efforts leading to the release of Israeli and Palestinian prisoners. At the time of this treacherous attack, Hamas leadership was reviewing an American proposal transmitted through Qatar and Egypt.
“The location where Hamas leaders met to discuss the American plan was known to all,” Sheikh Tamim said. “If Israel intends to assassinate Hamas’s political leadership, why does it engage in negotiations? Israel’s aggression is blatant, unfair, and cowardly. Anyone who deliberately targets their negotiation counterpart undermines peace efforts.”
He emphasized that Israel aims to make Gaza uninhabitable and displace its residents. He added that Israel moves toward fragmenting Syria but asserted these plans will not succeed. Netanyahu dreams that the Arab region becomes an area under Israeli influence-a perilous delusion.”
OIC Secretary-General: Security Council Must hold Israel Accountable for Its Crimes
On Monday, OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha addressed member states at their summit in Doha stating: “This meeting offers an opportunity to take a unified stance against Israel’s heinous aggression.”
taha strongly condemned Israel’s clear violation against Qatar’s sovereignty during the recent attack. he called on the UN Security Council “to fulfill its responsibilities” by holding Israel accountable for its crimes.
He expressed support for outcomes from international conferences seeking resolution of the Palestinian issue through a two-state solution framework. He expressed confidence these discussions would strengthen Arab-Islamic solidarity.
Taha added: “Israel’s violations against Qatar have crossed all limits while breaching basic humanitarian principles.”
King abdullah II Stresses Need for Concrete Action Against Tel Aviv
Jordan’s King Abdullah II told attendees at doha summit: ”Qatar’s security is our security; its stability is our stability-and we fully support it.”
He criticized ongoing Israeli actions in the West Bank as undermining any possibility for a two-state solution.
The King stressed urgent practical measures must be taken during this summit to confront these threats-to halt fighting in Gaza-and prevent forced displacement of Palestinians.
“Our response to attacks on Qatar must be forceful and unequivocal,” he declared.
Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Sudani Warns Attack on Qatar Sends Negative Message
Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani told delegates Monday at OIC leaders’ meeting in Doha that attacking Qatar sends “a negative message” diminishing chances for peaceful resolutions.
“The continuation without deterrence of Israeli policies will cause further instability without securing anyone’s safety,” he warned. “We affirm that every Arab or Islamic country’s security is inseparable from our collective security.”
“I propose adopting a unified Arab-Islamic position condemning attacks on brotherly countries like qatar,” al-Sudani said.”Such assaults should be seen as threats against all members.”
“A comprehensive roadmap must be developed toward achieving full ceasefire in Gaza,” he continued.’
“Moreover,” he urged establishing an Arab-Islamic joint committee tasked with conveying our position directly to UN Security Council & international bodies.”
“We have a real chance now to send a clear message-our national security is non-negotiable.”
