Rubio Travels to Qatar to Restart Hamas-Israel Talks
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and qatar’s Al Jazeera network, Israeli media sources reported that U.S. Secretary of State marco Rubio stated during a meeting with senior Israeli officials that his visit to Doha aims to restart stalled negotiations.
Al Jazeera reported that Rubio highlighted Qatar’s role in the talks and emphasized: “We hope qatar will continue playing a constructive and positive role in ending the Gaza war.”
He added, “We understand that the Qatari side is angry about what has happened, but nonetheless, we are still confronted with the realities of war, Hamas’s presence, and the issue of prisoners.”
Rubio also expressed hope that Qatar and other Gulf countries coudl “add positive momentum toward ending [the Gaza] conflict,” which he claimed would ultimately benefit those nations as well.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Channel 12 reported that the head of Israel’s negotiation team confirmed despite Hamas’s recent attack in Doha, the group will return to the negotiating table.
The official stressed that Qatar remains committed to its mediating role and will not withdraw from this mission.
The report added Channel 12 covered Rubio explaining efforts continue for a thorough agreement during his meeting with families of prisoners. He noted Hamas seeks to retain some captives.
According to these sources, rubio described this process as “complex” but affirmed work persists on bringing all hostages back through negotiations.
