Trump Denies Axios Report

US President Rejects Axios Report Claiming He Was Informed of Israel’s recent Attack on Qatar

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the ‍Associated Press, US President Donald ‍Trump has denied the Axios report claiming he ‍was ⁤aware of last week’s Israeli attack on Qatar.

The claim came after the⁤ American website Axios reported that Israeli ⁢Prime Minister Benjamin netanyahu informed Trump shortly before‍ an operation in Doha targeting Hamas leaders began.

The Trump governance stated, “When missiles were in the sky, ⁢we became aware of it; therefore, Trump had no opportunity to oppose the ⁤attack.”

Though, Axios quoted Israeli officials as saying that the White House had prior knowledge even if one assumes a⁢ compressed timeline for the ⁤attack.

Last ‌Tuesday, ⁣continuing its acts of terrorism in the region, Israel launched an airstrike targeting Hamas leaders’ residences in Qatar. Middle Eastern countries and ⁤others condemned this aggression widely ‍as an act likely to‍ escalate tensions in an already volatile region.

Trump had previously claimed he played no role in‌ Israel’s decision⁢ to strike Qatar. When asked yesterday whether Netanyahu ‌gave ⁤him direct⁤ warning before ‍the attack, he ‌stated: “No, no. They did not warn.”

Following axios’s report, Netanyahu’s office ⁢reiterated a previous statement asserting that this attack was “a completely independent Israeli operation.”

Washington is ⁢considered⁤ an ally both of Qatar and Israel. Doha has acted as‍ a mediator seeking to arrange a‍ ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians-mostly women and children-and fueled famine and starvation crises in Gaza. Numerous researchers and human rights experts ⁢have described thes killings as tantamount to genocide. Tel Aviv rejects these allegations and frames its actions following Hamas’s October 7 (Al-Aqsa Storm) operation as self-defense. Since then, Israel’s military campaigns have extended beyond Gaza to include incursions into Lebanon, Syria, Iran, yemen-and⁤ now⁤ also Qatar.
