According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, an image has surfaced depicting U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio conducting a symbolic excavation beneath the Silwan area near Al-Aqsa Mosque during his visit to the occupied territories.
in the photo, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara are also present.
The Israeli Ynet website reported that Rubio’s main purpose in visiting the occupied territories was to participate in the inauguration ceremony of a tunnel excavated under Silwan near Al-Aqsa Mosque. The tunnel is said to have been dug as part of Zionist plans to Judaize areas adjacent to Al-Aqsa. It extends approximately 600 meters, starting from southern Wadi hilweh neighborhood in Silwan and ending near the Western Wall (Buraq Wall) west of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The primary objective behind these extensive underground excavations by Israel is reportedly to demolish this sacred site and build a temple in its place.
