U.S. State Department Approves F-16 Fighter Sale to Peru

The U.S. Department of defense announced that the Department of State has approved⁤ a​ possible sale of F-16 ⁣fighter jets​ and associated equipment to peru, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News⁢ Agency and Anadolu.

according to the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the package is estimated at around $3.42 billion.It will enhance the ‍Peruvian Air Force’s ability to independently control its airspace, defend its borders, and conduct precise air-to-ground strikes⁢ in support of ground forces during anti-drug trafficking operations as well as counterterrorism⁣ missions.

The main contractors involved are lockheed ‍Martin, General electric Aerospace Industries, and RTX Corporation.
