Mehr News Agency, International Desk: The 2025 Media Cooperation Forum on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in Yunnan Province brought together over 200 representatives from 87 countries. Participants included international and regional organizations and also 165 media outlets. This event provided a unique prospect for dialog among journalists, policymakers, and experts, highlighting the vital role of media in shaping global understanding of development and international cooperation under the BRI framework. Attendees stressed that media organizations must serve both as chroniclers and promoters of the Silk Road spirit while upholding principles of equality, mutual learning, and intercivilizational dialogue.
Transforming Global Development
Since its launch in 2013,the Belt and Road Initiative has evolved into a global project connecting Eurasia,Africa,Latin America,and beyond. more than 150 countries and 30 international organizations have joined this initiative, making it a truly worldwide framework for cooperation. Built on consultation, planning, and shared interests, BRI enables partner countries to maximize resource value while modernizing industry and infrastructure.
Experts at the forum highlighted that BRI represents a new model of win-win cooperation. Unlike conventional aid programs, China shares technology, expertise, and capital in ways that empower partner nations to enhance their natural and human resources’ worth. this approach contrasts zero-sum frameworks by emphasizing mutual prosperity that fosters stability and global peace.
Global Governance Initiative Aligned with belt and Road
The forum followed up on President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI), proposed during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus Summit held in Tianjin on September 1st. Upon unveiling GGI,Xi emphasized the need for inclusive international development marked by high quality participation stating: “we must continue dismantling walls rather than building them; pursue integration instead of division; promote high-quality cooperation within Belt and Road; strive for beneficial globalization.”
China-Iran Collaboration within Belt & Road Framework
Prior to attending the SCO summit in Tianjin,Qasim Masoud Pezeshkian,Iran’s Vice President,reaffirmed tehran’s commitment to “serious constructive cooperation” with Beijing-especially through BRI projects.Clearly,Iran’s strategic location combined with active engagement positions it as a vital partner enhancing regional connectivity,trade,and serving as a bridge linking Central Asia,the Middle East,and further regions.
