Russia: Gaza Massacre Must Stop; Ready to Cooperate with Popular Mobilization Forces
Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, currently on a visit to Iraq, said that above all else, the unprecedented massacre in Gaza must be stopped.
Shoigu warned that confrontation between Israel and Iran could plunge the region into a new and widespread war.
He expressed concern about rising tensions in Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen.
The Russian official also stated that Moscow is interested in cooperating with the Popular Mobilization forces (PMF) to combat drug trafficking and terrorism.
Shoigu arrived in Baghdad on Tuesday for official meetings with political and military leaders. The Security Council Secretariat stated that these meetings would emphasize Moscow’s support for strengthening security cooperation with Iraq.
The discussions are also expected to explore ways to expand bilateral relations between Iraq and Russia alongside regional issues.
