Zelensky: NASAMS and Patriot Systems to Arrive in Ukraine
According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Wednesday that the first shipments of weapons under a new plan agreed upon by Kyiv, the United States, and European allies will include missiles associated with the NASAMS and Patriot air defense systems.
Zelensky added that he expects total pledged funding for Ukraine to reach $3.5 billion by October.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Kyiv with Roberta Metsola,president of the European Parliament,Zelensky said the first two shipments-each valued at $500 million-will “definitely” contain air defense missiles.
Ukraine remains heavily dependent on long-range air defense systems.
A senior NATO representative in Ukraine told Reuters that initial equipment shipments are already underway.
Patrick Turner stated: “four packages under UkraineS prioritized requirements list have already been funded,and equipment is currently being delivered.”
This comes after U.S. president had previously remarked that all costs for aid supporting Kyiv’s ongoing military efforts are being covered by European countries and NATO members.
