According too the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera and Mehr News Agency, former israeli military commander Yisrael Ze’ev warned about the regional situation and the consequences of occupying Gaza.
The former commander of the Gaza Division in the Israeli army criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies regarding the Gaza war, stressing that his approach has caused multiple problems.
Ze’ev said Netanyahu is trying to project an image of victory-a victory that does not exist in this war.
He warned that continuing military operations in Gaza endangers the lives of Israeli captives, soldiers, and Palestinian civilians in Gaza alike.
The former military official expressed hope that Netanyahu “will come to his senses and declare an end to the war in Gaza.”
Two days prior, Ze’ev stated that Doha talks revealed not a coalition forming against Iran but rather a regional alliance against Israel taking shape.
The ex-head of Israeli army operations said occupying Gaza will force its residents toward egypt-an influx Cairo could interpret as a declaration of war.
He cautioned that losing control over Egypt’s borders would have catastrophic consequences.
Ze’ev added that after Israel’s failed operation in Qatar, it could have corrected course by ending the conflict promptly.
He emphasized that occupying Gaza would almost certainly result in the deaths of Israeli captives and many soldiers.
The former commander stressed any direct military action inside gaza would produce severe human and security repercussions with limited options available to avert disaster.
Critisizing Netanyahu’s cabinet, he called it ”the weakest government in our history,” turning israel into a reckless regional bully violating other nations’ sovereignty without accountability.
