German Foreign Minister Claims Iran Must Restore Lost Trust
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera Qatar, German Foreign Minister Johan Waddafol accused Iran of failing to rebuild trust regarding its nuclear file.He stated that the German government expects Iran to restart confidence-building efforts and allow inspections of its nuclear facilities.
The German foreign minister did not acknowledge the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program in his remarks, which align with those of the United States and Israel. He claimed that Germany, along with the UK and France, is committed to preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
These statements came hours after Germany’s foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday via social media on X that foreign ministers from the three European countries involved in the 2015 JCPOA-known as the European troika-and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas held a phone call with Iranian counterpart Seyyed Abbas Araqchi to continue diplomatic efforts.
In an official statement, Germany’s Foreign Ministry made an unfounded claim saying Tehran has yet to take “logical and precise steps” necessary for extending UN Security Council Resolution 2231. The ministry demanded that Iran resume negotiations, permit inspections at sensitive sites, and address its stocks of highly enriched uranium.
Without referencing Europe’s own failure to uphold JCPOA commitments towards Iran, Germany’s statement asserted that these three European countries emphasized their urgency and determination to advance reimposing sanctions if no concrete actions occur in coming days.
It is noteworthy that Tehran has consistently stated it is ready for equal negotiations based on mutual respect. However, during recent months amid indirect talks between Tehran and Washington, both America and Israeli occupiers have violated international norms by aggressing against Iran.
