Al Jazeera: Non-Permanent Security Council Members Demand Permanent Ceasefire in Gaza
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Qatar’s Al jazeera network reported that informed sources within the UN Security Council stated that 10 non-permanent Council members have requested a vote on a draft resolution emphasizing the need for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
This move follows the United Nations voting overwhelmingly five days ago in favor of establishing an independent Palestinian state.
The UN General Assembly on Friday,September 12,passed a historic resolution supporting the ”New York Declaration,” which calls for concrete and irreversible steps toward forming an independent Palestinian state.
The resolution, sponsored by France and Saudi Arabia, was approved wiht 142 votes in favor, 10 against, and 12 abstentions.
