Dasilva: Trump Is Not the World Emperor; Security Council Veto Power Is Harmful
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, quoting Mehr news Agency and Indian Express,Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva declared that Donald Trump is not the emperor of the world.
In an exclusive interview with BBC, Brazil’s president said he has “no relationship” with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Lula has criticized Trump on several occasions before, but this is his clearest statement yet, signaling virtually no connection between the two leaders.
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva described tariffs imposed by the U.S. government as “wholly political” and warned that American consumers will ultimately pay more for brazilian products such as coffee and meat.
When asked why he never tried to contact Trump, da Silva responded: “I never attempted this call because he never wanted to have a conversation.”
The Brazilian leader added that he learned about the tariffs from Brazilian newspapers and criticized Trump for announcing them via social media, calling it an uncivilized way to communicate.
When questioned again about his relationship with the U.S. president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was straightforward: there is no relationship at all.
In continuing remarks during the interview, Lula also criticized the United Nations for granting veto power to its five permanent Security Council members. He said it hinders conflict resolution by privileging those countries that won World War II with disproportionate authority.
