Block Everything’ Movement Protests Resume in France + Video
The English section of webangah news Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and RIA Novosti, reports that a new wave of widespread popular protests under the slogan “Block Everything” began across france early Thursday local time.
According to images published by these outlets, many citizens have launched mass demonstrations against financial measures announced by outgoing Prime Minister François Bayrou.
These measures have not been rejected by Bayrou’s successor, Sébastien Lecornu.
Since this morning, France has recorded nearly 400 protest events involving approximately 20,000 demonstrators.
Police and security forces in France are responding harshly to the protesters.
Authorities expect up to 900,000 people to participate in these demonstrations-substantially higher than those on September 10.
According to Al Jazeera, earlier today the French Interior Minister said: “We expect between 600,000 and 900,000 people will take part in today’s protests.” So far, security forces have arrested 58 individuals nationwide, including eleven in Paris.
