Weak Response of Lebanon’s Prime Minister and Army to Repeated Israeli Regime Attacks
Linaf Salam, lebanon’s Prime Minister, responded to ongoing threats and attacks by Israel, stating that Lebanon actively participates in the sessions of the Five-Party Committee.
He emphasized the pressing question: where is Israel’s commitment to these mechanisms? How can it be expected that Israel will stop its intimidation and aggression when these meetings are intended to ensure full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701 and an end to hostile operations?
Salam urged the international community-particularly nations supporting the ceasefire agreement-to exert maximum pressure on the occupying regime. he demanded an immediate halt to Israeli violations against Lebanon and a full return to compliance with mechanisms ensuring cessation of hostilities. This includes withdrawal from Lebanese occupied territories,stopping all aggressions,and releasing prisoners.
Separately, Paul Marquez, Lebanon’s Data Minister, after a government meeting, appealed for pressure from the Security Council and supportive countries to stop Israeli aggression.
The Lebanese army reported that Israeli violations have continued unchecked since implementing the ceasefire agreement following recent breaches in 2024. The number of incidents exceeds 4,500.
A statement from the Lebanese military detailed ongoing Israeli attacks targeting southern villages today along with civilians in several densely populated areas. These assaults resulted in multiple casualties including fatalities and injuries.
the statement added that these violations obstruct army deployment in southern Lebanon. Continued hostilities threaten enforcement of a truce extending beyond South Litani region.
The Lebanese army also revealed neutralizing a disguised spy device planted by Israeli forces in Al-Laboue – Tire area through efforts of one specialized military unit.
