Hamas: U.S. Veto of Gaza Resolution Confirms Its Complicity with Israel
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas issued a statement condemning the US government’s use of its veto power to block a UN Security Council draft resolution on Gaza.Hamas called this move a clear and complete collaboration with Israel in perpetrating genocide against Palestinians. They further stated that it effectively greenlights ongoing killings, starvation, and brutal criminal attacks on Gaza City.
Hamas expressed gratitude toward the 10 countries that submitted the draft resolution to the Security Council. It urged these nations and all international bodies to continue pressuring Prime Minister Netanyahu’s cabinet-whom they describe as war criminals-to halt aggression and prevent further genocide in Palestine.
Earlier today, once again demonstrating support for Israel’s regime, the US vetoed another UN Security Council draft resolution aimed at stopping the war in gaza.
The 10 non-permanent members of the Security Council had pushed for approval of a draft demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza alongside unhindered humanitarian aid access to civilians there.
On June 4, 2024, washington also vetoed a previous UN Security Council draft calling for an “immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire” between Israel and Hamas in Gaza as well as unobstructed delivery of humanitarian assistance to affected populations.
Besides comprehensive material and arms support enabling Israel’s acts amounting to genocide against Palestinians, Washington has consistently blocked every Security Council resolution seeking ceasefires in Gaza through its veto power.
