Macron: France to Recognize Palestinian Government on Monday
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera Qatar, French President Emmanuel Macron stated, “I have once again informed Mahmoud abbas that France will recognize the Palestinian state on Monday in New York.”
Macron emphasized that recognizing the State of Palestine is “part of a comprehensive regional peace plan” aimed at meeting the security and peace demands of both Israelis and Palestinians.
The French president also said Abbas is committed once again to implementing necessary reforms to modernize Palestine’s governance structure and address challenges related to establishing stability in the future Palestinian state.
Macron added, “We will continue supporting Palestinian institutions and ensure we uphold our commitments to maintaining security and stability in the region.”
The French Presidency issued a statement warning that “annexation of the West Bank is a clear red line.”
Agence France-Presse reported from the Élysée Palace that 10 countries, including France, are expected to recognize the Palestinian government during a conference in New York on Monday.
