Syrians Protest Security Agreement Between Al-Julani Regime and Zionist Regime
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen Network, local sources in Syria reported that protests took place today in Homs, located in central Syria.
The demonstrators expressed their opposition to the security coordination between the al-Julani regime and Israel.
Abu Mohammad al-Julani, leader of the ruling group in Syria, said Wednesday night in remarks to reuters: ”Our talks with Israel may lead to tangible results in the coming days.”
He also emphasized that a security agreement with Israel is a necessity and must include respect for Syrian airspace and territorial integrity.
Al-Julani added, “If this security agreement with Israel is accomplished, other agreements could follow. However, peace and normalization of relations are not currently on the table.”
He claimed that “the United States is not exerting any pressure on Damascus to reach an agreement with Israel.”
Last Tuesday night, U.S.news outlet Axios quoted an informed source stating that Israel proposed a detailed new security agreement to al-Julani’s regime. The proposal involves a map covering southwestern Damascus up to its border with Israeli-occupied territories.
The report noted that Assad Al-Shibani, foreign minister of al-Julani’s regime, met Wednesday in London with Ron dermer, Israeli strategic affairs minister. The discussion was held in the presence of Tom Barrett, U.S. envoy for Syrian affairs.
Axios further reported that under this Israeli proposal southwest damascus would be divided into three zones, each subject to different security measures.
The American outlet noted that this plan focuses on extending a buffer zone inside Syrian territory where military forces and heavy weapons would be banned along the border with Israeli-occupied land.
Apart from military restrictions on ground space, Axios stated that according to the Israeli proposal all southwestern parts near Damascus up to its bordering territories would become a no-fly zone for Syrian aircraft.
