Deputy Foreign Minister to Europeans: The Window for Diplomacy Remains Open
Saeed Khatibzadeh,Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister,emphasized in an interview with Al Mayadeen that the diplomatic window remains open and diplomacy is always preferable to escalating tensions,according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency.
He warned three European countries that the European troika is providing excuses for further provocation and urged them to exercise caution.
Earlier, Iran’s Foreign ministry condemned as illegal the move by thes three European countries to restore United Nations Security Council resolutions.
It is noteworthy that a UN security Council meeting was held before the 30-day deadline of the trigger mechanism process to discuss a resolution on extending the suspension of sanctions against Iran.
An Al Mayadeen correspondent reported that nine Security Council members voted against extending UN sanctions relief on Iran. Only four members supported it, while two abstained.
