Iraqi MP: Popular Mobilization Forces Are Part of the Country’s Defense Power

According too the English section of ⁤ webangah⁤ News Agency, citing Mehr News​ Agency and Al-Malouma, ⁣Iraqi⁣ Parliament member Amir al-Maamouri emphasized that the strong efforts by some political⁢ currents to block ⁤the approval⁢ of⁣ a law specific to the Popular Mobilization Forces contradict rational and logical principles.

He added,”The Popular​ Mobilization Forces are part of the security⁢ apparatus ⁢under ⁣the prime minister’s supervision,and ⁤there‍ is no issue ‍with that.⁢ The PMF structure was established to support Iraq and defend the country.”

Al-Maamouri clarified, “The PMF does not represent only Iraq’s Shia community; sunni forces and representatives⁣ from othre groups ​also participate in this formation.”

Notably, some domestic Iraqi factions, supported by ⁣the United States, have obstructed efforts in⁢ parliament toward passing a law organizing the Popular Mobilization Forces.
