Iraqi MP: Popular Mobilization Forces Are Part of the Country’s Defense Power
According too the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Malouma, Iraqi Parliament member Amir al-Maamouri emphasized that the strong efforts by some political currents to block the approval of a law specific to the Popular Mobilization Forces contradict rational and logical principles.
He added,”The Popular Mobilization Forces are part of the security apparatus under the prime minister’s supervision, and there is no issue with that. The PMF structure was established to support Iraq and defend the country.”
Al-Maamouri clarified, “The PMF does not represent only Iraq’s Shia community; sunni forces and representatives from othre groups also participate in this formation.”
Notably, some domestic Iraqi factions, supported by the United States, have obstructed efforts in parliament toward passing a law organizing the Popular Mobilization Forces.
