Pakistan: Defense Agreement with Saudi Arabia Will Not Be Used Against Any Country
According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik,Shafqat Ali Khan,spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry,emphasized that the defense agreement signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will not be used against any other nation.
He added that the agreement aims to strengthen peace and security in the region and globally. Defense cooperation between the two countries has continued since the 1960s, and this accord builds on those longstanding ties.
Recently, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Pakistan’s Defense Minister, announced that under the defense pact with Riyadh, Pakistan’s nuclear program could be shared with Saudi Arabia if necessary.
Responding to a question about whether other Arab countries might join this agreement, he said it was premature to answer but confirmed that “the doors are certainly not closed.” He asserted it is a right of countries and peoples-especially within Islamic regions-to collaborate in defending their territories.
It is notable that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman signed this strategic joint defense pact with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a recent visit.
