Libya’s Omar Mukhtar Prepares to Move Toward Gaza
The Omar Mukhtar, a vessel within the Samood fleet, will set sail from Tripoli, Libya’s capital, aiming to break the imposed blockade on the Gaza Strip, according to webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn Sputnik.
Nabil Al-Soukni, the official spokesperson for the ship, told Sputnik in an exclusive interview that Omar Mukhtar is ready for departure; though, weather conditions have delayed its planned joining with the Steadfast fleet.
Al-Soukni added that weather forecasts predict improvement starting next Monday. this should allow safe passage for the ship by Tuesday if no other obstacles arise.
He emphasized that Omar Mukhtar carries numerous public figures from inside and outside Libya alongside its naval crew. He expressed hope that the vessel will contribute significantly to breaking gaza’s blockade.
