Resigned MI6 Chief Voices Criticism of China, Russia, and Iran
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Associated Press, Richard Moore, the outgoing head of MI6, labeled Iran, China, and Russia as threats amid his country’s repeated hostile positions.
As he prepares to leave his post later this month, Moore spoke in Istanbul about China, Iran, and counterterrorism as key priorities for the agency.
Describing China as a country caught between “prospect and threat,” Moore claimed that while Britain seeks a “respectful and constructive relationship,” China must adhere to established rules of engagement and non-interference.
Criticizing Iran, North Korea, and China for supporting Russia in the Ukraine conflict, he argued that Beijing’s diplomatic backing along with supplying dual-use electronics and chemicals prevented Russian president Vladimir Putin from concluding that peace was his best option.
Without mentioning Israel’s nuclear arsenal or Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program nature, Moore said a nuclear-weapons-free Iran remains London’s priority.
He asserted that tehran should avoid strategies that put it at odds with certain countries worldwide.
