The⁢ report states that two‌ Israeli officials claim Cairo has built new military infrastructure in areas of Sinai‌ where only light weapons are allowed under the 1979 ⁤peace⁤ treaty.⁣ These facilities “could have offensive capabilities,” according to the officials.

They further contend that Egypt has expanded flight corridors and constructed⁤ underground installations⁤ which, according to Tel Aviv, might be used for missile storage.

The officials say Israel turned to the Trump⁢ administration for intervention after direct negotiations with Cairo failed to halt this development.

Egypt’s Implicit Response to Netanyahu’s Request via ⁢Trump

In response, Egyptian⁣ intelligence issued a statement emphasizing that Egyptian ⁢troop deployments in Sinai or‍ anywhere else are⁣ “entirely based on assessments by top military ⁢leadership aimed at safeguarding national security.”
