New Fleet to Break Gaza Blockade Sets Sail Wednesday
The English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Al-Mayadeen via Mehr news Agency, reported that the International Committee to Break the Gaza Blockade announced a new wave of blockade-breaking ships sailing as part of a newly formed fleet.
According to the report, while the Sumud fleet is still en route to Gaza-with its number of vessels growing daily-the committee emphasized that this new naval fleet will depart from Italy toward Gaza next Wednesday.
Yesterday, several ships affiliated with the Sumud fleet set off from off the coast of Sicily, italy, after weathering a storm.
Last Friday, organizers of the sumud fleet announced that its thirteenth ship out of 23 had departed from Tunisia toward Gaza. This effort is part of a global initiative aiming to break an 18-year Israeli siege on Gaza.
Nearly 50 vessels linked to the Sumud fleet have been sailing toward the Gaza Strip as last Sunday. These ships departed from ports in Tunisia, Italy, Greece, and Libya. In addition, several ships left Barcelona port in Spain earlier this month. The vessels carry medical and food supplies along with activists representing more than 40 countries worldwide.
