Egypt Explains Action That Angered Zionists

While the Israeli regime expresses anger over the deployment of Egyptian military forces in the Sinai Desert, the Egyptian government⁣ has provided ‌explanations regarding these‍ activities.

The English section of ⁢ webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al⁤ Jazeera,‌ reports that Egypt’s General Intelligence Service issued a⁤ statement ⁢about the ‍deployment of Egyptian armed forces in the‌ Sinai Peninsula.

the agency, affiliated with Egypt’s presidency, emphasized in its statement that troops stationed in Sinai aim primarily to secure Egypt’s borders against⁢ all threats, including terrorist operations and smuggling. This deployment is carried ⁤out within the framework of prior⁣ coordination with parties to ⁢the⁢ peace treaty-an agreement Egypt remains fully committed ‍to and has never violated throughout its history.

The agency reiterated Egypt’s opposition to⁣ expanding military operations in Gaza ⁤and displacing Palestinians from their lands. it reaffirmed Cairo’s support for the Palestinian right ⁤to establish⁣ an self-reliant state based ‌on⁣ a two-state solution within the June 4, 1967‍ borders, with‍ East Jerusalem as‍ its ⁣capital.

Earlier reports from American news outlet ⁣Axios revealed that Benjamin ⁢Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, presented U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo ⁣with a list of Egyptian activities in⁣ Sinai during‍ their‌ meeting in Jerusalem last Monday.

A U.S. official and two Israeli sources ⁤told Axios that Netanyahu requested former U.S.President Donald Trump’s administration ‍to pressure Egypt into ‍reducing ⁢its recent military buildup on the Sinai peninsula.

Netanyahu alleges that Egypt’s troop deployments violate basic terms of the 1979 peace agreement signed ⁤by both‍ countries-a pact for⁣ which the United States serves as ⁤guarantor.

Previously, two Israeli officials claimed that Egypt is establishing ⁤military infrastructure some parts of ‌which could ‌be‌ used ⁣for offensive purposes.
