US Imposes Toughest Sanctions Yet on Iraq’s Al-Nujaba
The U.S. Department of State has officially upgraded its sanctions policy against the Islamic Resistance Movement Al-Nujaba in Iraq from the SDGT designation, which involves financial and economic penalties, to the FTO designation, carrying serious security and criminal consequences, according to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the official website of Al-Nujaba based in Iran.
Under this revision, the U.S. government formally defines Al-Nujaba as a foreign entity posing a significant threat to U.S. national security and interests, as well as those of its allies.
Another aspect of this enhanced sanction regime criminalizes and subjects individuals or organizations that support Al-Nujaba or certain other Iraqi resistance groups to prosecution.
This sanction framework represents one of the harshest diplomatic tools used by the United States against organizations it views as “a serious threat to global security.”
According to this report,washington’s move sends a clear message: from now on,Al-Nujaba will be regarded as an autonomous organization-not a proxy-threatening U.S. national security directly.members, supporters, and allies involved with resistance activities will face legal penalties without exemption.
