United Kingdom Recognizes the State of Palestine
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters television, London announced today, Sunday, that it recognizes Palestine as an autonomous state.
Al Jazeera reported that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated: “Today we have recognized the State of Palestine to revive hope for peace.”
In his remarks, the British Prime Minister made a populist claim: “We are striving to keep alive the possibility of peace and a two-state solution. They want to live in peace without violence or suffering, and this is exactly what London wants to see! Israel must stop its harsh tactics and allow aid into Gaza.”
Starmer could not conceal Britain’s longstanding animosity toward Palestinian resistance against Israeli occupation. He asserted: “Hamas should have no role in the future-neither in governance nor security. In coming weeks, sanctions will be imposed on additional Hamas figures.”
Without condemning ongoing Israeli crimes against oppressed Palestinians, Starmer added: “Hope for a two-state solution is fading, but we cannot let this light go out. Today we join more than 150 countries in recognizing the State of Palestine. I formally announce Britain’s recognition of Palestine.”
