UN Welcomes UK, Canada, and Australia’s Action on Palestine
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, the UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson responded today, Sunday, to announcements by the UK, Canada, and Australia regarding their recognition of Palestine.The statement declared that this recognition represents a significant advance within the framework of the so-called two-state solution.
The three countries-United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada-have officially recognized palestine as a sovereign state.
A joint statement from Australia’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister emphasized: “Australia acknowledges the legitimate and long-standing aspirations of the Palestinian people for an independent state. Today’s recognition reflects Australia’s enduring commitment to the so-called two-state solution which remains the only path to lasting peace and security.”
Canada’s Prime Minister’s office (PMO) noted that over decades Canada’s support for [the two-state solution] has been based on expectations that such an outcome would ultimately result from negotiated agreements.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also announced: “Today we have recognized the State of Palestine to revive hope for peace.”
