Trump Administration Cancels Annual Food Insecurity Review in the U.S

The ‍U.S. Department ⁤of Agriculture has announced the cancellation of its annual food insecurity survey after 30 years.

The webangah News Agency ‌English section, citing Mehr News agency and Reuters, reported that ⁤the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) stated that the Trump administration has ended its decades-long effort to track the number of Americans struggling to access⁢ sufficient food by canceling its annual food insecurity review.

The USDA claimed that the Household Food Security report had become “overly politicized” and is no longer necessary, although the 2024 edition ⁤will still be published ⁣in october; however, there will be no review ‌in 2025.

This cancellation comes amid rising food insecurity rates and recent cuts to federal food⁣ assistance program budgets, including stricter eligibility requirements for participants in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP).

The USDA also alleged ⁤that the annual report was “full of errors, flawed metrics, lack of accountability, and a broad push toward increasingly large government programs.”
