Hamas: Recognizing Palestine Is a Significant Step
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) reacted to the recognition of the State of Palestine by the united Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, as well as declarations from other countries considering similar recognition. In a statement reported by webangah News Agency, quoting mehr News Agency and Shehab News Agency, Hamas called this step a significant move in affirming the Palestinian people’s rights to thier lands and holy sites, establishing an independent state with jerusalem as its capital, and recognizing their sacrifice for freedom and return.
Hamas emphasized that this critically important action must be accompanied by practical measures aimed at immediately halting the brutal genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. The statement also called for resisting annexation projects and efforts to Judaize the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The group urged the international community-including the United Nations and its affiliated bodies-to isolate the occupying regime. It demanded an end to any cooperation or coordination with this regime while increasing sanctions. Hamas called for detaining its officials as war criminals, referring them to international courts for prosecution due to crimes against humanity.
The statement highlighted that “the fascist occupying regime continues violating international laws, agreements, and humanitarian norms.” It condemned ongoing violent assaults on Palestinians carried out under declared policies such as genocide, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement-calling for clear and influential stances necessary to contain this regime.
Hamas asserted that “the Palestinian people’s resistance against one of modern history’s most brutal occupations is a natural right guaranteed under international law.” It urged countries worldwide to support Palestinians confronting criminal occupation so they may achieve self-determination through establishing an independent State of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.
