Omar Mukhtar Sets Out to Join the Samoud Fleet
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, reported that an Al jazeera correspondent announced the departure of the Omar Mukhtar ship from Libya’s capital to join the global Samoud (Resistance) fleet. This fleet is working to break the blockade on Gaza.
The Al Jazeera correspondent also reported that surveillance drones were flying over ships in the international Samoud fleet.
Nabil Al-Soukni, official spokesperson for the Omar Mukhtar ship, previously explained in an exclusive interview with Sputnik that while the ship was ready to sail, weather conditions delayed its scheduled joining with the Samoud fleet.
He emphasized that Omar Mukhtar carries many public figures from inside and outside Libya, and also a maritime crew. He expressed hope that the ship would play a role in breaking Gaza’s imposed blockade.
The Samoud convoy, composed of several ships aiming to aid Gaza and end its blockade, began its journey in late August from Barcelona port in Spain. Over time, additional vessels from different parts of the world have joined this mission.
