U.S. Claims Recognition of Palestine Is Performative
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Agence France-Presse, a U.S. State Department spokesperson claimed on Monday that the recognition of the State of Palestine by U.S. allies is merely symbolic.
The spokesperson added that this action was taken solely for show.
Without mentioning the brutal genocide carried out by the Israeli regime against Palestinians in Gaza, the American official stated that washington’s priority is securing the release of Israeli captives and ensuring Israel’s security, which cannot be achieved without Hamas.
It is worth noting that yesterday, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Portugal recognized the State of Palestine ahead of United Nations General Assembly meetings. Other countries,including France,are also expected to recognize Palestine during these sessions.
