Lebanese MP: Hezbollah’s Decision to Support Gaza Was the Rightest Choice
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency, Mohammad Raad, head of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc in Lebanon’s Parliament, told Al-Mayadeen in an exclusive interview that “the resistance stands fully united with its identity and principles in defending the cause it has sacrificed for.”
Referring to the conduct of the Israeli military, he said: “This is a murderous army, not an army of war. Its destructive power is not genuine deterrence but rather deterrence imposed by the United States.”
Raad added: “the Israelis were surprised by our firm stance and widespread military presence across battlefronts. We even had to establish checkpoints along routes leading south to prevent an excessive influx of volunteers joining the fronts.”
He explained that Hezbollah endured notable losses during support and combat operations in what he called “Al-awwal Al-Baas” (the first Battle), enough to destroy a country and collapse an army. However, he stressed that Hezbollah is not a party prone to defeat. “Unity and readiness were key factors in our resilience; every fighter knew their mission from day one.”
Raad emphasized: “We suffered hard blows but quickly improved our situation, rebuilt our structure, and even filled gaps during ongoing battles.”
Regarding Hezbollah’s alliances, he noted: “In all coalitions we seek broader national interests. No ally has ever criticized us for lack of sincerity; complaints have only arisen from our steadfast adherence to principles and fixed positions.”
Speaking about former Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah’s character, Raad said: “Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was known for his value-driven patience and strategic political endurance. Targeting him effectively meant targeting all of Hezbollah; this was clear from early confrontations following Operation ‘Al-Aqsa Storm.'”
Raad pointed out that as recommendations by the Winograd Committee after Israel’s 2006 defeat, Israel has been preparing for renewed attacks on Hezbollah. From humanitarian, ethical, national, and ethnic perspectives there was no option but supporting oppressed Gaza.
“Supporting Gaza in war was indeed the right decision as victory represents humanity’s triumph-for freedom as well as nationality and ethnicity-even if its cost is high,” Raad stated.
He compared recent Israeli aggressions with what he called their fabricated Holocaust narrative saying: “What occurred in this war is thousands of times worse than what has been falsely promoted as a Holocaust throughout history.”
