Conference on United Nations Recognition of the State of Palestine Begins
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Qatar’s Al Jazeera network, the “Two-State Solution” conference, hosted by France and Saudi Arabia, began in New York with dozens of world leaders attending. The event aims to recognize an independent State of Palestine.
France and Saudi Arabia are hosting this gathering on Monday, local US time, with participation from numerous global leaders. The goal is to secure support for a two-state solution. Several countries are expected to formally recognize Palestine during the conference-a move likely to provoke strong reactions from Israel and the United states.
The conference opened with a speech by French President Emmanuel Macron.
We can no longer wait any longer for recognition of the Palestinian state
Macron stated: “Today we have come together because it is time to free 48 hostages held by Hamas and end the war in Gaza. We can no longer wait any longer for recognition of an independent Palestinian state.”
He added: “The promise to establish an Arab state in Palestine remains unfulfilled. We accept collective responsibility for our failure to achieve a just and thorough peace in the Middle East.”
