UN General Assembly President: Gaza Urgently Needs Ceasefire and Humanitarian Aid
According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Qatar’s Al Jazeera network, Annalena Baerbock, former German Foreign Minister and President of the 80th UN General Assembly, stated at a two-state conference in New York: “We cannot ignore the voice of Hind Rajab when the vehicle carrying her came under attack.”
She added: “The world has left hind Rajab, a young girl from Gaza, and Israeli child Kfir Bibas disappointed and alone.”
Baerbock continued: “Humanity does not lie in choosing sides and ignoring others but in recognizing that every life holds equal value.”
She emphasized: “We need an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.”
“Israel must allow aid to reach civilians in Gaza,” she said. “Simultaneously occurring,Hamas should release Israeli captives.”
The former U.S. Secretary of State remarked that expanding settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem undermines prospects for a political solution.
The only way for Israelis and Palestinians to live with dignity is through a two-state solution.
The President of the general Assembly stressed that Resolution 181 laid the foundation for this two-state path as the sole route to peace.
“Our message today is that we will never give up,” she declared. “We remain committed to the two-state solution.”
Baerbock added she is ready to take decisive action to guarantee progress toward realizing this vision.
She noted that a New York declaration received support from 142 UN member states.
The German diplomat insisted on establishing an independent sovereign Palestinian state within internationally recognized borders.
Concluding without mentioning Israel’s violations but intervening in internal resistance group affairs, she claimed: “Hamas’ governance over gaza must end; it should disarm.”
