Palestinian Authority President Calls for Immediate Halt to War Against Gaza Civilians

The President of the Palestinian Authority called⁢ for an immediate ​halt to the war against the people⁢ of Gaza ‌on Monday night.

According to the ‍English​ section‌ of webangah News Agency, citing⁢ Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera Qatar, Mahmoud​ Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, spoke at a two-state conference hosted by France and⁣ Saudi Arabia in ⁢New York. He demanded that aid be allowed into Gaza,⁣ the​ occupiers⁤ withdraw from​ the territory, and Israeli prisoners be freed.

Speaking via video ⁢conference after being denied permission to attend in⁣ person, Abbas expressed‌ gratitude for mediation efforts by Egypt, ⁤qatar, and the United States.He also praised Egypt’s and Jordan’s positions opposing ‌forced displacement of Palestinians.

Echoing⁢ positions aligned with israel, the U.S., ⁢and Western countries, Abbas asserted⁤ that Hamas ‌and other groups must surrender⁣ their weapons to the Palestinian Authority and renounce any role​ in Gaza.

He added: “We seek to establish ⁢a non-militarized ‍palestinian state.”

Abbas further called‍ for an end to settlement expansion, annexation ​of Palestinian lands, ⁢violence by settlers, and attacks on holy ⁣sites.

The “Two-State Solution” ‌conference-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia-began Monday night Tehran time in New York with dozens of world leaders attending. The⁣ event ‌aims to garner support for recognizing‌ an independent State of Palestine. Several countries are expected ⁢to officially⁣ acknowledge Palestine during this session-a move⁤ that⁣ may provoke strong reactions from Israel ‌and the United States.

The conference opened with remarks ‍from French President Emmanuel Macron.
