Palestinian Authority President Calls for Immediate Halt to War Against Gaza Civilians
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera Qatar, Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, spoke at a two-state conference hosted by France and Saudi Arabia in New York. He demanded that aid be allowed into Gaza, the occupiers withdraw from the territory, and Israeli prisoners be freed.
Speaking via video conference after being denied permission to attend in person, Abbas expressed gratitude for mediation efforts by Egypt, qatar, and the United States.He also praised Egypt’s and Jordan’s positions opposing forced displacement of Palestinians.
Echoing positions aligned with israel, the U.S., and Western countries, Abbas asserted that Hamas and other groups must surrender their weapons to the Palestinian Authority and renounce any role in Gaza.
He added: “We seek to establish a non-militarized palestinian state.”
Abbas further called for an end to settlement expansion, annexation of Palestinian lands, violence by settlers, and attacks on holy sites.
The “Two-State Solution” conference-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia-began Monday night Tehran time in New York with dozens of world leaders attending. The event aims to garner support for recognizing an independent State of Palestine. Several countries are expected to officially acknowledge Palestine during this session-a move that may provoke strong reactions from Israel and the United States.
The conference opened with remarks from French President Emmanuel Macron.
