Typhoon Ragasaa Shuts Schools, Businesses and Cancels Flights Across China

Southern Chinese ‍cities⁣ have⁤ closed schools and ‌businesses and canceled flights as​ they brace for one of the most powerful storms to hit the country in recent years.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr⁤ news Agency and Reuters,southern Chinese cities are preparing for ‍one of⁢ the most severe storms in recent years by shutting down schools,businesses,and canceling flights. The storm ⁢previously caused three deaths and ‌displaced thousands in the Philippines.

The ‍Hong kong ‌Observatory reported ​that Typhoon Ragasa, with‍ winds near its ‌center reaching approximately ​230 kilometers per hour, is ⁢expected to move at about 22 ​kilometers per‍ hour along the northern part of the South China Sea toward the​ west-northwest coast of Guangdong Province, ​a major economic hub in southern‌ China.

China’s National Meteorological Center forecasts heavy rainfall along the coastline ‍between Shenzhen and Shantou.

Schools ‍have been closed ⁢in Hong Kong and Macau.⁣ Other ‍cities including Shenzhen and Foshan in Guangdong Province and also Haikou in hainan Province have⁤ ordered class cancellations alongside ⁤temporary suspensions of business activities and transportation services.

Hundreds of flights from Hong⁢ Kong International Airport​ where canceled. Shenzhen airport will suspend all flights starting tonight. Macau’s government has‍ also activated emergency response measures as‌ it ‌prepares for Typhoon Ragasa,which is expected to pass through this resort area at speeds reaching 100 kilometers per hour.
