Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Passes Away
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia announced on Tuesday the death of the Kingdom’s Grand Mufti.
The Royal Court stated on Tuesday that Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Sheikh, Grand Mufti and President of the Council of Senior Scholars, has passed away.
The statement added that a funeral prayer will be held after Asr prayer at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.
King salman bin Abdulaziz al saud has ordered a collective absentee funeral prayer in his honor to be held after Asr prayer today at Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina, and all mosques across the country.
According to the Royal Court statement: Saudi Arabia and the Muslim world have lost a revered scholar who devoted his life to serving knowledge,Islam,and Muslims for decades. Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh served many years as Grand Mufti and head of Saudi Arabia’s Council of Senior Scholars. He played a leading role in religious leadership and issuing Islamic fatwas nationwide.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman offered condolences to Sheikh Abdulaziz’s family, the people of Saudi Arabia, and the broader Islamic community. He prayed for mercy upon him from God.
