Wissam Hassan Tawil: The Martyr Praised Repeatedly by the Master of Resistance Martyrs
Wisam Hassan Al-Tawil, known by his nom de guerre haj Jawad, was born on September 20, 1975, in the town of Kharbet Salem in southern lebanon. He grew up with his older brothers and witnessed the Israeli invasion of Lebanon when he was seven. In the early months following the invasion, some of Wisam’s brothers joined resistance groups, introducing him to the concept of resistance and Hezbollah. accordingly, he joined hezbollah in 1989.
He was married and had four children. Haj jawad was the brother of martyr Commander Fadi Hassan Al-Tawil,who joined the Islamic Resistance in 1982. He was also uncle to martyrs Hussein Hani al-Tawil and Muhammad Hani Al-Tawil. Wisam belonged to a family largely involved with Hezbollah members.
Wisam participated in several key jihadi missions and took part in the major Operation Badr against israeli occupation forces and collaborators in southern Lebanon in 1987 alongside a group of mujahideen.
Haj Jawad completed numerous military courses and progressed thru all training stages up to advanced levels. Hezbollah stated that he played an effective role in developing their military training system. Before southern Lebanon’s liberation in 2000, he took part extensively-including critical operations-against enemy forces.
After Israel’s April 1996 aggression on Lebanon, Wisam took charge as reconnaissance leader on the Aqlim al-Tuffah front line before becoming deputy commander there. In 1999 during Operation Sajd against Israeli forces, he suffered severe neck wounds but continued participating actively afterward-targeting enemy positions within occupied Shebaa Farms after southern Lebanon’s liberation.
He also succeeded notably during operations capturing Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon during 2006 as well as throughout the July War (33-day war).
His performance throughout Hezbollah’s operations earned him consistent praise from Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah himself.
Haj Jawad played a significant role combating terrorism across syria and Iraq. He counted among prominent companions of martyred General Qassem Soleimani-the former commander of Iran’s Quds Force-as well as jihadist leaders Imad Mughniyeh and Mustafa Badreddine from Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Unit leadership.
The late Tawil fought alongside numerous martyrs and commanders such as Imad Mughniyeh; Sayyed Zulfiqar; Haj Abu Muhammad al-Aqlim; haj Abu Isa al-Aqlim; Haj Hatim Hamadeh; Haj Ala’ al-Bosna; Haj Khaled Bazzi; Haj Muhammad Sarour-and others who shaped Islamic Resistance efforts over decades.
When conflict erupted across Syria, Wisam Tawil became one of first fighters joining Hezbollah units deployed into Syrian battlefields. After October seventh military engagements as well (October refers here to unspecified year), he led multiple critical strikes targeting enemy army positions along Lebanese-Palestinian borders under occupation.
The Israeli regime targeted martyr Tawil’s car with a guided missile while driving on Aldabsheh Road near kharbet Salem town center-wounding him severely while forcing his vehicle off-road where it caught fire completely.
Following this attack, Hezbollah officially confirmed martyrdom for Wisam Hassan Al-Tawil-the deputy commander of Radwan Forces-and honored his sacrifices both as a dedicated leader within resistance ranks who gave his life for Jerusalem’s cause with pride.
