Swedish Defense Minister: We Will Shoot Down Russian Fighter Jets
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and al Jazeera, Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonsson delivered a sharp warning to Russia.
He stated: If Russian fighters violate our airspace, we will shoot them down.
just yesterday, the Swedish defense minister urged Europe to increase its readiness for conflict due to the threat posed by Russia.
Jonsson said: “We must adopt a new European mindset that shifts from peacetime thinking to wartime preparedness. Russia is extensively rearming and building a more lethal military. It has made meaningful advances in long-range weapons and electronic warfare.”
He warned that NATO member states need greater coordination on defense matters.
Jonsson added: “We see Ukraine as both a shield-and if you prefer-a sword against Russian military expansion.”
Sweden joined NATO two years ago in response to Russia’s invasion of ukraine, ending its Cold War-era neutrality.
