UNIFIL Responds to Israeli Drone Downed in Southern Lebanon
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Nashra, Candice Ardill, UNIFIL’s spokesperson, addressed the incident in which an Israeli drone crashed inside their base in Al-Naqoura yesterday afternoon. She confirmed that no one was injured.
Ardill added that the Israeli drone was equipped with a camera but was unarmed. She described the incident as a serious violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and Lebanon’s sovereignty. UNIFIL treats any threats or actions against its forces and facilities seriously and will officially protest this event.
The UNIFIL spokesperson emphasized that their mission is to maintain stability and security in southern lebanon but said repeated attacks jeopardize these efforts.
Yesterday, Lebanese media reported on the crash of an Israeli drone at a UNIFIL center due to technical failure. Al-Akhbar revealed that Italian troops serving with UNIFIL secured the Israeli drone after it malfunctioned and fell at the base in Ras al-Naqoura.
