Netanyahu: Our Goal in Negotiations with Syria Is to Demilitarize the Country’s Southwest

The Office of the⁢ Prime Minister of the Israeli regime announced that it seeks to disarm southwestern Syria through negotiations wiht the Jolani regime.

The English⁤ section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency via ⁤Al Jazeera, ⁢reported that the office of Benjamin Netanyahu, prime ‌Minister of‍ the Israeli regime, stated ongoing talks with Syria aim to protect Israel’s interests.

Netanyahu’s office also said Israel is pursuing disarmament‌ in southwestern syria and security guarantees‍ for the Druze community through negotiations ‍with Abu Mohammad al-Joulani, leader of the terrorist faction‍ controlling parts of Syria.

Since Bashar al-Assad’s government fell, Abu Mohammad al-Joulani’s group‌ has signaled major shifts in Syrian political discourse and expressed willingness for open policies and normalization with the Israeli regime.

In early 2025, regional and European mediators initiated communication channels between Damascus and Tel Aviv. Reports indicate⁤ that Syria’s new governance is⁣ not only⁣ ready to sign a reconciliation agreement with Israel but also⁣ willing to recognize Israeli control over occupied ‍Golan Heights-provided there are economic guarantees involving ‍reduction or lifting Western sanctions.

As Bashar al-Assad’s fall, Israel has repeatedly launched attacks across various ‍regions in Syria, violating its sovereignty ‌and territorial integrity.
