Another U.S. Official Claims: We Are Ready to Talk with Iran
According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Mignonne Houston, Deputy Spokesperson for the US State Department, told al Jazeera that the United states has repeatedly urged Iran to negotiate because many opportunities are available.
She stated that the US wants Iran to be ready to accept inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and claimed: despite sanctions imposed on Iran by three European countries, we remain ready for dialog.
Earlier,Steve Witkoff,president Donald Trump’s representative for Middle east affairs,expressed America’s willingness to engage in talks with Iran and asserted that his country is already communicating with Iranian officials.
He added that Iran faces a tough situation.
Witkoff also claimed negotiations would focus mainly on verification regarding uranium enrichment and ensuring no pursuit of nuclear weapons.
The US deputy spokesperson further said their focus remains on ending the war in Gaza and securing the return of hostages and deceased bodies.
Houston continued: “We want Hamas ended; it must not have any leadership role in Gaza.”
She added: “We are committed to stability and security in the West Bank and will continue our efforts toward this goal.”
