Hezbollah Warns Lebanese Government Against U.S. Betrayal
Hassan Ezzeddin, a representative of the loyalty to Resistance bloc in the Lebanese Parliament, responded to recent provocative comments by Tom Barrett, the US envoy to Lebanon, aimed at the government, army, and people. Speaking to webangah News Agency, citing Al-Nashra website via Mehr news Agency, Ezzeddin expressed thankfulness for Speaker Nabih Berri’s wise and brave condemnation of barrett’s statements. He reiterated that weapons in Lebanon are sacred tools for protecting its people-not instruments of sedition or serving Zionist enemy interests.
Ezzeddin added during a memorial ceremony that Lebanese officials must adopt a firm position addressing Washington’s clear interference and threats directed specifically at Lebanon’s government. He emphasized that Prime Minister Nawaf Salam should fully implement the government’s ministerial statement according to its priorities.
These priorities include halting Zionist enemy aggression against Lebanon and ensuring full withdrawal of Israeli occupiers from Lebanese territory. The government must employ all available means to expel Israelis from their land. Other key priorities relate to initiating reconstruction efforts-compensating victims and owners of damaged or destroyed homes-which must commence promptly.
The parliamentarian noted that Lebanon’s 2026 budget should allocate funds specifically for rebuilding so citizens feel cared for rather then abandoned. He urged the government to abandon any unpatriotic stance linking reconstruction efforts with disarmament of resistance forces since such an approach violates Lebanon’s supreme national interests and those of its people.
He further stated that Tom Barrett spoke on behalf of zionist leadership when declaring Israel woudl not withdraw from five occupied points in southern Lebanon-now increased to seven locations-underscoring how relying on Washington regarding any issue involving Israel is illusory and bound only to end in disappointment.
Ezzeddin underscored hezbollah’s view that America has repeatedly demonstrated it cannot act independently outside supporting Israel’s regime; it prioritizes Israeli interests above all else with no regard for Lebanon’s national concerns.
This statement comes days after US special envoy Tom Barrett provocatively declared he would never strengthen the Lebanese army against Israel but instead equip it for internal use against Lebanese citizens and Hezbollah.
