Spain to Deploy Ship to Protect “Sumud” Fleet
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, José Manuel Albares, Spain’s Foreign Minister, stated: “We will send a military ship to protect the ‘Samood’ fleet, which includes many of our citizens.”
He added that Spain is issuing a warning regarding possible attacks on the Samood convoy.
This decision comes amid repeated drone attacks targeting the international Samood fleet-a group of several ships attempting to break the blockade of Gaza in recent days. Extensive drone flights have been reported over these vessels.
An emergency protocol was activated across all ships in the Samood global convoy after drones were spotted overhead and projectiles and sound bombs were fired at some vessels.
Previously,Italy dispatched two ships to help protect this fleet.
The international Samood flotilla, consisting of more than 50 ships aimed at aiding Gaza’s population and breaking its blockade, set sail from Barcelona in early August. Additional vessels from different parts of the world gradually joined the convoy.
