Omar Mukhtar Joins the Samud Fleet
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and russia Al-Youm, announced that the Libyan ship Omar Mukhtar has joined the global Samood (Resistance) fleet, aiming to break the gaza blockade.
The media office of Omar Mukhtar stated that the ship has joined other vessels in the samood fleet and begun a joint voyage toward Gaza. This marks a major milestone for this multinational fleet, which carries activists and humanitarian aid for Palestinians under siege.
A Russia Al-Youm reporter aboard Omar Mukhtar described scenes of chants and anthems supporting Palestine as the ship linked up with fellow vessels in the Samood fleet.
On Friday,an emergency was declared on board due to drone flights over Omar Mukhtar. Despite this, crew members and activists maintained high spirits, cooperation, and discipline as they continued their journey.
Omar Mukhtar carries many public figures from within Libya and abroad alongside its naval crew.
The activists on board strongly rejected demands from the Israeli regime to offload humanitarian supplies at Israel’s Ashdod port ahead of reaching Gaza.
They emphasized that such demands blatantly disregard Palestinian rights and undermine the core mission of these ships: breaking Israel’s maritime blockade of Gaza.
Previously, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed unloading aid at Ashdod would expedite delivery to Gaza’s population.
The global Samood convoy-comprising more than 50 ships aiming to assist Gaza’s people and lift its blockade-departed Barcelona Port in early August. It gradually welcomed additional vessels from around the world along its route.
