Pakistan to Mediate for De-escalation Between Washington and Tehran
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, following Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly, told Pakistan’s Geo TV network: ”Fortunately, our relations with Iran have seen significant progress recently.”
He added, “Pakistan’s relationship with Iran is close and fraternal. We believe that any misunderstandings on certain issues have been resolved through mutual management between two neighboring countries.”
Referring to Shehbaz Sharif’s official meeting with Donald Trump at the White House and Islamabad’s efforts toward regional peace, the Defense Minister said there is potential for Pakistan to contribute to de-escalating tensions between Iran and the U.S.
