Russia Backs Venezuela Against U.S. Threats
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Rosyia Al-Youm via Mehr News Agency, Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed during a meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart on the sidelines of United Nations sessions that Moscow firmly opposes the use of force against sovereign nations.
He added, ”We strongly oppose using force as a tool in foreign policy against autonomous countries. We express solidarity with Venezuelan authorities in facing increasing external threats and attempts to interfere in their internal affairs.”
Lavrov emphasized Russia’s full support for Caracas’ efforts to protect its national sovereignty.
Notably, NBC News recently reported-citing four informed sources including two US officials-that Washington is preparing to launch attacks on Venezuelan territory.
the report states that potential US strikes on Venezuela would be justified under anti-drug trafficking operations.
The sources also indicated these attacks could begin within the coming weeks.
Earlier, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced that popular forces across the country have been deployed to counter any threats from ”American aggressors.”
